A catapult is any siege engine which uses an arm to hurl a projectile a great distance, though the term is generally understood to mean medieval siege weapons. Catapults were usually made of wood and assembled at the site of a siege. Although this design has a spoon at the end of the arm, more typically this would have been some form of sling to hold the projectile. This mechanical working model wooden toy automata kit by Timberkits is fun to assemble and adds animation.
