The Caterpillar is simply delightful; the wiggly motion of the body driven by the series of offset cams will fascinate young and old alike. It wiggles along, all the while watching the pretty butterfly overhead and dreaming of its’ own metamorphosis. The wooden mechanical Caterpillar is a very good teaching aid as it shows some basic principles of both physics and engineering. The models are manufactured from renewable wood sources and are design for age 9 and over. Younger builders may require the assistance of an adult. The models, both kits and built, are not suitable for children 3 years and under due to the risk of choking on the small parts.
